Philip Catherine é um guitarrista de jazz influenciado por Django Reinhardt. Nascido em Londres, mas de ascendência belga, começou sua carreira nos anos 60 tocando com Dexter Gordon e Jack Sels. Na década seguitnte trabalhou com Jean-Luc Ponty e inicou carreira solo, gravando seu primeiro álbum em 1971. Em meados dos anos 70 ficou conhecido no meio do rock por ter substituido Jan Akkerman no grupo holandês Focus.

I was convinced of Catherine's musical qualities since I bought "September Man" in the seventies (I used to test my self-built speakers with it), and one of my most memorable concerts ever was P.C. with Larry Coryell, Stéphane Grappelli and NHØP. Incredible. My wife left the concert because she found it "too loud", but I was in another world. Thanks for this one!
